Great artisans are usually capable of:

  • Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials.
  • Performing precise and skillful manipulation of small objects.
  • Being active and proactive in regards to physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

Technician

Archetype 11 Technician

Technicians will often be asked these tasks:

  • Providing documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to tell others about how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used.
  • Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information.
  • Servicing, repairing, calibrating, regulating, fine-tuning, or testing machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of electrical or electronic (not mechanical) principles.

Other work activities related to Automotive specialty technicians

  • Changing spark plugs, fuel filters, air filters, and batteries in hybrid electric vehicles.
  • Conducting visual inspections of compressed natural gas fuel systems for identifying cracks, gouges, abrasions, discoloration, broken fibers, loose brackets, damaged gaskets, or other problems.
  • Diagnosing and repairing regenerative braking systems or hydraulic systems in hybrid vehicles.
  • Diagnosing and replacing or repairing engine management systems or related sensors for flexible fuel vehicles (ffvs) with ignition timing, fuel rate, alcohol concentration, or air to fuel ratio malfunctions.
  • Inspecting propane or natural gas high pressure tanks, piping, or pressure regulators.
  • Replacing hydraulically assisted systems with electric powered systems, such as power steering pumps or air conditioning compressors, for improving fuel economy.
  • Retrofit vehicle fuel systems with aftermarket products, such as vapor transferring devices, evaporation controlling devices, swirlers, lean burn devices, or friction reduction devices, for enhancing combustion and fuel efficiency.
