Technician

Technicians will often be asked these tasks:
- Providing documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to tell others about how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used.
- Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information.
- Servicing, repairing, calibrating, regulating, fine-tuning, or testing machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of electrical or electronic (not mechanical) principles.
Artisan

Great artisans are usually capable of:
- Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials.
- Performing precise and skillful manipulation of small objects.
- Being active and proactive in regards to physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

- Maintaining cleanliness of working area.
- Examining vehicles for determining extent of damage or malfunctions.
- Testing driving vehicles and testing components and systems, using equipment such as infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges, and computerized diagnostic devices.
- Repairing, relining, replacing, and adjusting brakes.
- Reviewing working orders and discussing working with supervisors.
- Following checklists for ensuring all important parts are examined, including belts, hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, brake and fuel systems, wheel bearings, and other potentially troublesome areas.
- Planning working procedures, using charts, technical manuals, and experience.
- Testing and adjusting repaired systems to meet manufacturers’ performance specifications.
- Conferring with customers for obtaining descriptions of vehicle problems and for discussing working to be performed and future repairing requirements.
- Performing routine and scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune ups.
