Great artisans are usually capable of:

• Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials.
• Performing precise and skillful manipulation of small objects.
• Being active and proactive in regards to physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

Controllers are expected to be good at:

• Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate manufacturing systems.
• Working with hand operated industrial machines and power tools.
• Adjusting knobs, levers, and physical or touch sensitive buttons in industrial devices.
• Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, aircraft, or watercraft.

• Examining and measuring completed materials or products for verifying conformance to specifications, using measuring devices such as tape measures, gauges, or calipers.
• Monitoring machine operations for detecting malfunctions and reporting or resolving problems.
• Reading working orders and communicating with coworkers for determining machine and equipment settings and adjustments and supplying and product specifications.
• Filling machines with glues, cements, or adhesives.
• Mounting or loading material such as paper, plastic, wood, or rubber in feeding mechanisms of cementing or gluing machines.
• Maintaining production records such as quantities, dimensions, and thicknesses of materials processed.
• Starting machines, and turning valves or moving controls for loading, admitting, applying, or transferring materials and adhesives, and for adjusting temperature, pressure, and time settings.
• Performing testing production runs and making adjustments as necessary for ensuring that completed products meet standards and specifications.
