Controller

Controllers are expected to be good at:
- Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate manufacturing systems.
- Working with hand operated industrial machines and power tools.
- Adjusting knobs, levers, and physical or touch sensitive buttons in industrial devices.
- Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, aircraft, or watercraft.
Inspector

Inspectors should be great at:
- Estimating sizes, distances, and quantities; or determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity.
- Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
- Identifying information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events.
- Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
Other work activities related to Ship and boat captains
- Steering and operating vessels, using radios, depth finders, radars, lights, buoys, or lighthouses.
- Computing positions, setting courses, and determining speeds, using charts, area plotting sheets, compasses, sextants, and knowledge of local conditions.
- Measuring depths of water, using depth measuring equipment.
- Directing or coordinating crew members or workers performing activities such as loading or unloading cargo, steering vessels, operating engines, or operating, maintaining, or repairing ship equipment.
- Monitoring the loading or discharging of cargo or passengers.
- Calculating sightings of land, using electronic sounding devices and following contour lines on charts.
- Signaling passing vessels, using whistles, flashing lights, flags, or radios.
- Maintaining boats or equipment on board, such as engines, winches, navigational systems, fire extinguishers, or life preservers.
- Signaling crew members or deckhands for rigging towing lines, opening or closing gates or ramps, or pulling guarding chains across entries.
