Great artisans are usually capable of:

  • Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials.
  • Performing precise and skillful manipulation of small objects.
  • Being active and proactive in regards to physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

Supervisor

Any supervisor should excel at:

  • Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment.
  • Detecting or assessing problems whether real or potential.
  • Monitoring and controlling resources and overseeing the spending of money.

Other work activities related to Separating, filtering, clarifying, precipitating, and still machine setters, operators, and tenders

  • Setting up or adjusting machine controls to regulating conditions such as material flow, temperature, or pressure.
  • Monitoring material flow or instruments such as temperature or pressure gauges, indicators, or meters for ensuring optimal processing conditions.
  • Collecting samples of materials or products for laboratory analysis.
  • Testing samples for determining viscosity, acidity, specific gravity, or degree of concentration, using testing equipment such as viscometers, ph meters, or hydrometers.
  • Measuring or weighing materials to be refined, mixed, transferred, stored, or otherwise processed.
  • Cleaning or sterilizing tanks, screens, inflow pipes, production areas, or equipment, using hoses, brushes, scrapers, or chemical solutions.
  • Inspecting machines or equipment for hazards, operating efficiency, malfunctions, wear, or leaks.
  • Dumping, pouring, or loading specified amounts of refined or unrefined materials into equipment or containers for further processing or storage.
  • Connecting pipes between vats and processing equipment.
