Inspectors should be great at:
- Estimating sizes, distances, and quantities; or determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity.

- Identifying information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events.
- Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
Strategist

Most strategists should excel at:
- Establishing long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them.
- Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
- Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
- Scheduling events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others.

- Responding to emergencies, such as transformer or transmission line failures, and routing current around affected areas.
- Preparing switching orders for isolating working areas without causing power outages, referring to drawings of power systems.
- Controlling, monitoring, or operating equipment for regulating or distributing electricity or steam, using data obtained from instruments or computers.
- Coordinating with engineers, planners, field personnel, or other utility workers for providing information such as clearances, switching orders, or changes in the distribution processes.
- Directing personnel engaged in controlling or operating distribution equipment or machinery, such as instructing controlling room operators for starting boilers or generators.
- Distributing or regulating the flow of power between entities, such as generating stations, substations, distribution lines, or users, tracking the status of circuits or connections.
