Archetype 9 Artisan

Great artisans are usually capable of:

  • Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials.
  • Performing precise and skillful manipulation of small objects.
  • Being active and proactive in regards to physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

Controller

Archetype 4 Controller

Controllers are expected to be good at:

  • Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate manufacturing systems.
  • Working with hand operated industrial machines and power tools.
  • Adjusting knobs, levers, and physical or touch sensitive buttons in industrial devices.
  • Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, aircraft, or watercraft.

Other work activities related to Sawing machine setters, operators, and tenders, wood

  • Adjusting sawblades, using wrenches and rulers, or by turning handwheels or pressing pedals, levers, or panel buttons.
  • Inspecting and measuring workpieces to marking for cuts and for verifying the accuracy of cuts, using rulers, squares, or caliper rules.
  • Examining logs or lumber for planning the best cuts.
  • Setting up, operating, or tending saws or machines for cutting or trimming wood to specified dimensions, such as circular saws, band saws, multiple blade sawing machines, scroll saws, ripsaws, or crozer machines.
  • Inspecting stocks for imperfections or for estimating grades or qualities of stocks or workpieces.
  • Operating panelboards of sawing or conveyor systems for moving stocks through processes or to cutting stocks to specified dimensions.
  • Mounting and bolting sawing blades or attachments to machine shafts.
  • Monitoring sawing machines, adjusting speed and tension and clearing jams for ensuring proper operation.
  • Selecting sawblades, types or grades of stocks, or cutting procedures to be used, according to working orders or supervisors’ instructions.
