Archetype 9 Artisan

Great artisans are usually capable of:

  • Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials.
  • Performing precise and skillful manipulation of small objects.
  • Being active and proactive in regards to physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

Controller

Archetype 4 Controller

Controllers are expected to be good at:

  • Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate manufacturing systems.
  • Working with hand operated industrial machines and power tools.
  • Adjusting knobs, levers, and physical or touch sensitive buttons in industrial devices.
  • Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, aircraft, or watercraft.

Other work activities related to Shoe machine operators and tenders

  • Studying working orders or shoe part tags for obtaining information about workloads, specifications, and the types of materials to be used.
  • Removing and examining shoes, shoe parts, and designs for verifying conformance to specifications such as proper embedding of stitches in channels.
  • Performing routine equipment maintenance such as cleaning and lubricating machines or replacing broken needles.
  • Cutting excess threads or material from shoe parts, using scissors or knives.
  • Turning screws to regulating size of staples.
  • Aligning parts to be stitched, following seams, edges, or markings, before positioning them under needles.
  • Turning setscrews on needle bars, and positioning required numbers of needles in stitching machines.
  • Switching on machines, lowering pressure feet or rollers for securing parts, and starting machine stitching, using hand, foot, or knee controls.
  • Collecting shoe parts from conveyer belts or racks and placing them in machinery such as ovens or on molds for dressing, returning them to conveyers or racks for sending them to the next working station.
