Archetype 9 Artisan

Great artisans are usually capable of:

  • Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials.
  • Performing precise and skillful manipulation of small objects.
  • Being active and proactive in regards to physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

Controller

Archetype 4 Controller

Controllers are expected to be good at:

  • Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate manufacturing systems.
  • Working with hand operated industrial machines and power tools.
  • Adjusting knobs, levers, and physical or touch sensitive buttons in industrial devices.
  • Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, aircraft, or watercraft.

Other work activities related to Welders, cutters, and welder fitters

  • Welding components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Igniting torches or starting power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded, completing electrical circuits.
  • Clamping, holding, tacking, welding, heat bending, grinding or bolting component parts for obtaining required configurations and positions for welding.
  • Detecting faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notifying supervisors.
  • Operating manual or semi automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux cored arc, plasma arc, shielded metal arc, resistance welding, and submerged arc welding.
  • Monitoring the fitting, burning, and welding processes for avoiding overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
  • Examining workpieces for defects and measuring workpieces with straightedges or templates for ensuring conformance with specifications.
  • Recognizing, setting up, and operating hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
