Archetype 4 Controller

Controllers are expected to be good at:

  • Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate manufacturing systems.
  • Working with hand operated industrial machines and power tools.
  • Adjusting knobs, levers, and physical or touch sensitive buttons in industrial devices.
  • Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, aircraft, or watercraft.

Artisan

Archetype 9 Artisan

Great artisans are usually capable of:

  • Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials.
  • Performing precise and skillful manipulation of small objects.
  • Being active and proactive in regards to physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

Other work activities related to Multiple machine tool setters, operators, and tenders, metal and plastic

  • Inspecting workpieces for defects, and measuring workpieces for determining accuracy of machine operation, using rules, templates, or other measuring instruments.
  • Observing machine operation for detecting workpiece defects or machine malfunctions, adjusting machines as necessary.
  • Reading blueprints or job orders for determining product specifications and tooling instructions and for planning operational sequences.
  • Setting up and operating machines, such as lathes, cutters, shears, borers, millers, grinders, presses, drills, or auxiliary machines, for making metallic and plastic workpieces.
  • Positioning, adjusting, and securing the materials or workpieces against stops, on arbors, or in chucks, fixtures, or automatic feeding mechanisms, manually or using hoists.
  • Selecting, installing, and adjusting alignment of drills, cutters, dies, guides, and holding devices, using templates, measuring instruments, and hand tools.
  • Changing worn machine accessories, such as cutting tools or brushes, using hand tools.
