Controllers are expected to be good at:

  • Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate manufacturing systems.
  • Working with hand operated industrial machines and power tools.
  • Adjusting knobs, levers, and physical or touch sensitive buttons in industrial devices.
  • Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, aircraft, or watercraft.

Artisan

Archetype 9 Artisan

Great artisans are usually capable of:

  • Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials.
  • Performing precise and skillful manipulation of small objects.
  • Being active and proactive in regards to physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

Other work activities related to Machinists

  • Disposing of scrap or waste material in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations.
  • Separating scrap waste and related materials for reuse, recycling, or disposal.
  • Calculating dimensions or tolerances, using instruments such as micrometers or vernier calipers.
  • Setting up, adjusting, or operating basic or specialized machine tools used to performing precision machining operations.
  • Maintaining machine tools in proper operational conditions.
  • Studying sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information for determining methods or sequences of operations needed for fabricating products.
  • Diagnosing machine tool malfunctions for determining need for adjustments or repairs.
  • Evaluating machining procedures and recommending changes or modifications for improved efficiency or adaptability.
  • Machining parts to specifications, using machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
