Archetype 9 Artisan

Great artisans are usually capable of:

  • Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials.
  • Performing precise and skillful manipulation of small objects.
  • Being active and proactive in regards to physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

Controller

Archetype 4 Controller

Controllers are expected to be good at:

  • Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate manufacturing systems.
  • Working with hand operated industrial machines and power tools.
  • Adjusting knobs, levers, and physical or touch sensitive buttons in industrial devices.
  • Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, aircraft, or watercraft.

Other work activities related to Forging machine setters, operators, and tenders, metal and plastic

  • Measuring and inspecting machined parts for ensuring conformance to product specifications.
  • Reading working orders or blueprints for determining specified tolerances and sequences of operations for machine setup.
  • Starting machines for producing sample workpieces, and observing operations for detecting machine malfunctions and for verifying that machine setups conform to specifications.
  • Removing dies from machines when production runs are finished.
  • Turning handles or knobs to setting pressures and depths of ram strokes and to synchronize machine operations.
  • Conferring with other workers about machine setups and operational specifications.
  • Repairing, maintaining, and replacing parts on dies.
  • Setting up, operating, or tending presses and forging machines to performing hot or cold forging by flattening, straightening, bending, cutting, piercing, or other operations for tapering, shaping, or forming metal.
  • Positioning and moving metal wires or workpieces through a series of dies for compressing and shaping stocks into forming the dies’ impressions.
