Archetype 11 Technician

Technicians will often be asked these tasks:

  • Providing documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to tell others about how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used.
  • Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information.
  • Servicing, repairing, calibrating, regulating, fine-tuning, or testing machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of electrical or electronic (not mechanical) principles.

Artisan

Archetype 9 Artisan

Great artisans are usually capable of:

  • Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials.
  • Performing precise and skillful manipulation of small objects.
  • Being active and proactive in regards to physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

Other work activities related to Heating and air conditioning mechanics and installers

  • Installing and testing automatic, programmable, or wireless thermostats in residential or commercial buildings for minimizing energy usage for heating or cooling.
  • Installing dehumidifiers or related equipment for spaces that require cool, dry air for operating efficiently, such as computer rooms.
  • Installing magnetic centrifugal chillers, compressors, or related equipment for cooling air temperatures through the using of recirculating water.
  • Installing or repairing air purification systems, such as specialized filters or ultraviolet (UV) light purification systems.
  • Installing or repairing self contained ground source heating pumps or hybrid ground or air source heating pumps for minimizing carbon based energy consumption and reducing carbon emissions.
  • Installing radiator controls for controlling the heating of residential or commercial buildings.
  • Repairing or service heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems for improving efficiency, such as by changing filters, cleaning ducts, or refilling non toxic refrigerants.
