- Adjusting knobs, levers, and physical or touch sensitive buttons in industrial devices.
- Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, aircraft, or watercraft.

- Pulling down loose rocks that cannot be supported.
- Performing safety checks on equipment before operating.
- Performing tests for determining the presence of methane gas.
- Performing ventilation tasks, such as hanging ventilation curtains and tubes.
- Dusting rocks after bolting.
- Installing various types of bolts including truss, glues, and resin bolts, for traversing entire ceiling spans.
- Drilling testing holes and testing bolts for specified tension, using torque wrenches.
- Drilling bolting holes into roofs at specified distances from ribs or adjacent bolts.
- Force bolts into holes, using hydraulic mechanisms of self-propelled bolting machines.
- Removing drill bits from chucks after drilling holes and inserting bolts into chucks.
- Positioning safety jacks for supporting underground mine roofs until bolts can be installed.
