Archetype 11 Technician

Technicians will often be asked these tasks:

  • Providing documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to tell others about how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used.
  • Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information.
  • Servicing, repairing, calibrating, regulating, fine-tuning, or testing machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of electrical or electronic (not mechanical) principles.

Strategist

Archetype 8 Strategist

Most strategists should excel at:

  • Establishing long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them.
  • Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
  • Scheduling events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others.

Other work activities related to Computer operators

  • Entering commands, using computer terminal, and activating controls on computer and peripheral equipment to integrating and operating equipment.
  • Monitoring the system for equipment failure or errors in performance.
  • Notifying supervisor or computer maintenance technicians of equipment malfunctions.
  • Responding to the programs error messages by finding and correcting problems or terminating the programs.
  • Reading job setting up instructions for determining equipment to be used, order of using, material such as disks and paper to be loaded, and controlling settings.
  • Operating spreadsheet programs and other types of software for loading and manipulating data and for producing reports.
  • Retrieving, separating, and sorting the programs outputs as needed, and sending data to specified users.
  • Loading peripheral equipment with selected materials for operating runs, or overseeing loading of peripheral equipment by peripheral equipment operators.
  • Answering telephone calls to assisting computer users encountering problems.
