Archetype 9 Artisan

Great artisans are usually capable of:

  • Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials.
  • Performing precise and skillful manipulation of small objects.
  • Being active and proactive in regards to physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

Technician

Archetype 11 Technician

Technicians will often be asked these tasks:

  • Providing documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to tell others about how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used.
  • Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information.
  • Servicing, repairing, calibrating, regulating, fine-tuning, or testing machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of electrical or electronic (not mechanical) principles.

Other work activities related to Meter readers, utilities

  • Reading electric, gas, water, or steam consumption meters and entering data in route books or hand held computers.
  • Walking or driving vehicles along established routes for taking readings of meter dials.
  • Uploading into office computers all information collected on hand held computers during meter rounds, or returning route books or hand held computers to business offices so that data can be compiled.
  • Inspecting meters for unauthorized connections, defects, and damage, such as broken seals.
  • Reporting to service departments any problems, such as meter irregularities, damaged equipment, or impediments to meter access, including dogs.
  • Answering customers’ questions about services and charges, or directing them to customer service centers.
  • Updating client address and meter location information.
  • Leaving messages to arranging different times to reading meters in cases in which meters are not accessible.
  • Collecting past due bills.
  • Performing preventative maintenance or minor repairs on meters.
