Strategist

  • Establishing long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them.
  • Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
  • Scheduling events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others.

  • Evaluating sizes, locations, and conditions of forest fires.
  • Requesting and dispatching crews and positioning equipment so fires can be contained safely and effectively.
  • Communicating fire details to superiors, subordinates, or interagency dispatch centers, using two way radios.
  • Serving as a working leader of three or more firefighters, and their vehicles, such as fire truck, plane, or helicopter.
